Colonial Valley Motel

We stayed for a night back in September, I believe, in what they call “the pet room,” since we had our service dog. That room was absolutely DISGUSTING. If they’re going to offer a “pet room,” they need to clean the carpets and fix the trim around the walls. The office smelled like mildew, and despite the place saying no cats or whatever, there was a cat box with litter in a drawer. We took it because we have cats. The bed was okay, but the pillows felt like lying on air, and the blankets were too thin for my liking.

We travel A LOT and usually read reviews, so we saw the negative comments about this motel before booking. The location and price worked for us, so we took a chance. Jen, the guest services gal, was an absolute delight, and the service was SUBLIME compared with places where I’ve had bad service. The rooms are quaint but not outdated, and the bathroom was clean. I’d recommend it to friends and strangers looking for a nice, quiet location. The pillows were soo comfy, something I think people should mention more in reviews, since it matters to me. The AC worked perfectly fine, too. I was in room 126, since room numbers seem to come up in the reviews. I’m sorry a couple of people had a bad experience, but I think that must be the exception, not the norm.

The lack of service was my main issue. When we returned at 10pm, the lobby was closed and stayed closed until after we left at 7:30am. There was no breakfast, and we had to put our key in the mail slot. There were two of us, but the room had just one K-cup. With no staff around, we couldn’t get more coffee. We’ll stay somewhere else next year.

The rooms were nice, and the beds and pillows were comfy. I’d love to know where they got those pillows, haha. The experience was mostly good, but there was mouse poop and pee in a pot in room 129, and the shower had no hot water at all. When we first arrived, the place gave me a bit of a sketchy vibe and made me anxious.
