American Eagle Inn

I'm staying here again now, and it's quiet. Nobody bothers me, I like the location, and although I didn't get the best room, I know they have some decent ones. No complaints this time, and the lady clerk is super nice. I've stayed a few times over the years. Some rooms may be better than others, so I can see how some complaints could be valid, though my own experiences haven't been as bad as some reviews suggest. The owners are super nice. Little downtown Fayetteville is practically on the doorstep, with coffee shops, places to eat, bars, and even the liquor store across the street, all within walking distance. You can have a few drinks and not need to drive. There is drug activity and prostitution around the area, and the property could definitely use an upgrade. With the location and the changes happening downtown, it has lots of potential and just needs some work. I'd stay again if needed.

The location is close enough to downtown to walk, but it sits in what I'd call a bad part of town. Street bums often pass by or gather at the Carolina Outreach Center across the street, and there are rough neighborhoods nearby. I was alone and had no issue with the location, but a family with young kids might want a hotel in a safer area. Check-in took under five minutes, went smoothly, and there was no deposit. The room was clean and had most of what I needed, plus a TV with lots of channels. I booked through the Hotels.com app and got a lower nightly rate. A microwave and coffee maker would've been useful. It's not quite the days inn, but could work if you're on a budget. I'm surprised by how many decent reviews it gets, though it worked out well enough for me.

BED BUGS!!! I was bitten up even though I didn't sleep under the covers. I only booked one night because I had a convention to attend, everywhere else was full, and I didn't expect to spend much time in the motel. The whole property was grimy and dirty, and the room was worse. The microwave didn't work, the toilet seat was broken, and the room was filthy. The entire place was repulsive, like a motel from a rob zombie movie. I wouldn't tell anyone to stay here. This was the most disgusting motel I've ever seen, and if I could give negative stars, I would. It should be condemned. There's a reason they post a no refund policy at the check-in desk. Save your money and book somewhere else, rather than risk the possible diseases you could get here.

Roaches were crawling into the bed, so I couldn't sleep. After 2am, law enforcement had to come because of all the ridiculous activity. Customer service was really unprofessional. When I asked for better towels, I was told to buy my own new ones.
