The chemical fumes in our room were so strong that breathing was difficult. The clerk acknowledged the problem, but there were no other rooms available. I asked to cancel, and was told the booking through Hotels.com could not be canceled. Apparently, even if there were no mattress on the bed or no running water, there would be no refund. We lost over $100 on a room that couldn’t be lived in, and my credit card company couldn’t help. We arrived to find a parking lot piled with old mattresses and bathroom cabinets, while the lobby had bare stud walls. There’s good reason the reviews for Suburban Suites are so bad.

The place reeked of smoke even though it’s supposed to be nonsmoking. The listing also advertises a snack bar or deli, but there’s definitely nothing like that on the premises. I’m not sure I’d trust it if there were one. It was dirty, the pillowcases were dingy, most outlets didn’t work, and there was no hair dryer, dirty clothes bag, or ice bucket. The kitchenette had no dishes, glasses, or silverware. The guy at the front desk seemed surprised when we asked if the AC worked and had to go check our room. The doors and windows were open, and the back entrance door wouldn’t shut all the way. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The bed was uncomfortable and the hallways were dirty. I couldn’t get a printed receipt because the owner does business on ripped-in-half pieces of recycled paper. Every complaint I raised got the same response: “it’s ok.” BROTHER, NO IT IS NOT.

I stayed here for an extended visit and it was absolutely better than I expected. The staff are awesome, the rooms are super clean, and the prices are the best ever. I’d recommend staying here to anyone.

The building was dark, and they use actual door keys. I left without staying. I would never stay there, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
