Hampton Inn Fishkill

The service was friendly and good, but this Hampton didn’t meet the standard we’re used to. Our room was smaller than most Hampton rooms we stay in, the pool was frigid, and breakfast was lacking. The heater was also hard to regulate. We love Hampton Inn, but not this one.

I’m grateful I found a place here at the last minute, and I’d stay again if I needed somewhere nearby. I can’t stand by my initial five-star rating, though. Some dispensers didn’t have enough soap, including the lobby bathroom and the shower gel in our room, and there were other signs the room hadn’t been cleaned well. They do provide breakfast, and I was happy with the oatmeal.

This is one of my usual spots for business trips in the area. The car charger is convenient, the pool is great, and housekeeping and the older woman at the front desk in the morning are sweethearts. The breakfast is okay, though the woman serving it seemed a little mean or possibly frustrated on two of my three stays. On my last visit, room 414 had a ladybug infestation. Those positives are why I gave it three stars, when it could have been five.

Once the heat was on, the room became a warm, inviting place, and the luxurious bedding helped me sleep really well. The Samsung HD smart TV’s ‘control with your phone’ feature was useful, with complimentary HBO plus channels like CINEMAX and other movie and news options. I was disappointed that late checkout wasn’t available because staff were on holiday, though getting in early was a welcome perk. The interior felt chilly when we arrived because it was cold outside, and some guests may find the pool water a bit cold too. The hotel design and beautifully maintained surroundings impressed me, and the pool area was spacious with well-appointed facilities. Complimentary breakfast had a good selection, which was a pleasant surprise.
