The Fitzgerald Inn

I live here. It’s a great place for a bachelor, and cheaper than any rent.

I booked here because Quality was full. I know it was $60, but I found a much better room for the same price just down the road at Regent in Ocilla. The floors were lifting and popping, there were spiders in the couch, and the baseboards were full of dead bugs and egg sacs. The furniture was pretty busted up. I even found a nail clipping in the nightstand and some kind of food rolled up in the pullout couch. I left after about 10 minutes and called to say I’d left the keys on the counter. The woman kept saying “what” and arguing with me about checkout time. I couldn’t really understand her, except that it was my problem and she couldn’t do anything. So, $60 for 10 minutes in a room that smelled like Roundup. I guess they’d recently sprayed. I’ll remember that horror for the rest of my life. Maybe other rooms are better, but if you get room 105, that’s how fast you’ll be leaving.

My family had trouble finding somewhere to rent, so we stayed at this hotel for over a year. Given my circumstances, it was a pleasant experience. The staff might seem rough around the edges, but they’re good folks. I stayed long enough to see the difference. Show respect, don’t wreck the rooms, and you’ll get a peaceful break here. Of all the places in Fitzgerald, I stand by this one.

Our room was absolutely disgusting. The sheets hadn’t been changed and the floor was filthy. We’d called specifically to ask if the hotel was pet friendly, and they said yes. Then, when they saw our dogs while we were exchanging dirty towels for clean ones, they told me the dogs couldn’t be on the bed. We’re paying $50 per dog each week, and we have three. We planned to stay three weeks while my husband worked out of town, but after the female owner was rude, we’re going to another hotel.
