The Sanctuary On Huron River

Fancy breakfast with pretty birds in view? This is the place. The sanctuary is a lovely, scenic spot to stay when you're visiting the Huron River area, and Dora is a wonderful host.

We were so pleased with our second stay here and will definitely be back. The land reaches down to the river, with wildlife to watch, and the hosts are exceptional. We absolutely love Dora, a wonderful chef and person, and her husband Ed too.

I spent six days at The Sanctuary Bed and Breakfast on Huron River in Flat Rock, MI. Dora and Ed were excellent hosts, attentive to details and very accommodating. Dora is a gourmet chef. Breakfasts were exceptional, with fine china, mocktail mimosas, and all sorts of food. She accommodates dietary restrictions and serves only the best fresh ingredients, including locally purchased fruits and vegetables. Breakfast was a pleasure, with many kinds of birds visiting the feeders Ed put outside for guests to watch. On the beautifully maintained five acres, we also saw red squirrels and their babies, bunnies, deer, and more. There's access to the Huron River and its views as well. The peaceful setting is ideal for decompressing from a hectic life. For guests who need some accessibility help, there is a toilet riser and other provisions. You can't go wrong with a stay here, and I plan to return.

My husband and I had a fabulous summer stay at Dora and Ed’s Sanctuary On Huron River. The five-acre property was great for my morning walks, and in the evenings we enjoyed sitting beside the calm river. The rooms and bathrooms were in great condition, and the thoughtful personal touches made us feel at home and welcome. Dora is a master chef. I've never had food this wonderful at a bed and breakfast, despite traveling around the state and abroad in Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. You can tell she cooks with love. I highly recommend staying here!
