Baymont by Wyndham Florence

I was only passing through after my car broke down and had to book somewhere quickly. The service was horrible, and there was barely anything at breakfast: cereal, milk, and bagels, but no cream cheese. The microwave looked spray-painted, and the pool was dirty and full of trash, left uncovered for the winter. On the way to breakfast I saw food scattered across the floor of a room with its door ajar. No wonder there were cockroaches and ants, though luckily I didn’t see any in my room. The room itself was awful. The bed sagged in the middle, the bathroom was gross, and the old AC and heater were broken. The windows were dirty, the sheets stained, and one pillow was moldy. I sneezed all night. They’d bolted a headboard to the wall instead of providing a full bed. The floors were sticky, and there wasn’t a trash can in either the room or bathroom. I checked for bedbugs and luckily didn’t find any that I could tell. On the way to the room we saw people exchanging drugs or acting suspiciously. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

At least it was close to Buc-ee’s. I checked in ten minutes before check-in time, but the room wasn’t ready. The lobby was grimy, with flies, fly paper, and drips from the ceiling. The whole place felt sketchy and filthy. My non-smoking room smelled of cigarettes and fabuloso, and the floor was dirty. I didn’t risk using the shower because there was mold everywhere. The bed was even worse, with coils digging into my back. I didn’t feel safe walking the dog around the property. Horrible stay.

I picked the location because it was near my job. When I first arrived, the room was still under construction. While I was trying to get it sorted out, two other people came in, said they wouldn’t stay, and agreed to pay for one night just to leave, which worried me. I kept talking to the staff until they understood I wouldn’t accept a partial refund and wanted to see a few rooms. Some of the options were actually not bad. After three days, my feet were dirty within five minutes of my first shower, even after taking off my socks. Housekeeping hasn’t come since I arrived, and the towels are stained with something unknown, so I’m glad I brought my own. There was half a bar of soap in the tub and what looked like a homemade bong made from a water bottle behind the bathroom door. There was nothing for the advertised breakfast, which made me mad that I’d stayed the first couple of days. There were constant drug deals and people banging on other guests’ doors. Maybe you can stay here if you have nowhere else, but I’d never recommend it for a family.

We arrived for one night and ended up renting a place here permanently. The customer service and management are great, and the employees take pride in their work. It’s clean, safe, and pet-friendly, and having a pool is a great bonus.
