The location worked well for us, and I really liked having an indoor pool. The staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast was very good. I also loved the cookies and the fact that breakfast runs until 10. The bed was my one gripe, it felt hard. The hotel is older, though it’s been kept in good shape.

I came back on April 19 and 20 after my wife and I stayed here in February, and I was disappointed. The first room had a dirty floor, peeling paint by the shower, and tables at the foot of the bed that looked barely attached to the wall. They moved me to another room, but its carpet was stained and the bed had a deep dip where you lie. The sheets and towels were yellowish or off-white from looking old and stained. The rooms feel so worn that the place reminds me more of an old Days Inn than a Hilton.

The staff were friendly and great. The hotel itself is very nice and right downtown in Florence. The gym was nice too, though it was missing some equipment I’ve seen at other Hampton Inns.

Melanie at the front desk really came through when I arrived late for a two-night stay and found no parking. She moved her own car to give me a space, but only after I’d pulled around the lot in case another spot opened up. That’s five-star service at a solid property. This is my go-to when I’m in Muscle Shoals.

The shower knob just spins and won’t turn the water on. I can’t believe that wasn’t noticed while the room was being cleaned. I won’t stay here again.
