Quality Inn & Suites Florence - Cincinnati South

The breakfast was pitiful, and the hotel made you watch an ad to get on the WiFi, which was very strange. When we asked for towels and trash to be taken on our third day, nothing had been done by the time we got back that night. The front desk offered excuses instead of apologizing. We even offered to change the sheets ourselves if they'd provide them, but they didn't give us clean linens. We got only a couple of towels and were told they were out of trash bags, so they could only give us a large one. They said staffing was short and they might not be able to clean the room for the rest of our stay because empty rooms were the priority. They told us to put the dirty towels and trash in the hallway. Our five-night stay had already started badly: the room wasn't ready until 5 pm, though check-in was meant to be at 3 pm. Once inside, there were sticky cup rings and greasy smudges on all the surfaces, and trash left from the previous guest. The broken door lock couldn't be deadbolted at night, but they said they were sold out and couldn't do anything. A wet carpet patch turned a towel yellow, and the hallways smelled like wet dog or cat pee.

The breakfast staff member did a great job keeping tables clean, and the staff were good. The breakfast itself was limited: no meat, no bacon or sausage, just a rubbery egg something, biscuits and gravy, cereal, and a waffle maker. The coffee machine was broken, though there was another one by reception. Our room was clean enough, but the lamp over the bed table on the right was broken and the spot life feature dangled. Furniture looked beat up, with dings and scratches, like something from a frat house. The heater smelled like burnt hair, so I shut it off immediately. The bathroom was clean, but had mold in every floor and ceiling corner. By morning the hair dryer was broken, and the plastic bathtub faucet came off in my wife's hands. I screwed it back on as best I could with a pocket knife. I may be wrong, but I think they have a contract with an agency to house homeless people. That's cool, but they should say so in the booking. There are two flights of stairs to reach the second floor, no elevator. I'd look elsewhere in Florence. A disaster, I wouldn't stay there if you paid me. The owners shouldn't be in this business.

We stayed in June and had a very nice experience, but this visit was completely different. Last night I tried to buy a soda, but the machine immediately spat out $2 worth of dimes and nickels. The front desk girl gave me change, then told me the machine didn't work when I asked about it. Why wasn't there a sign or a heads-up when I got the change? The hallway smelled awful, nearly enough to make us leave, but we were tired and stayed. This morning my 8yr old special needs daug6 nearly stepped on a cockroach coming out of the bathroom. After that I started noticing how nasty and dirty the room was. I have picture proof of the roach. So disappointed.

Room 214 needs attention. The stairwell on the way in was extremely dirty, and there was sticky stuff on the AC unit and side tables. The bathroom doorknob was about to fall off, the shower wouldn't drain, and the sink sent water out like a pressure washer. The main room light kept flickering on and off, making it useless. Staff were nice at check-in, but the building is in disarray and needs investment in cleaning and maintenance.
