The manager was one of the nicest, most caring people I’ve dealt with, and for the rate we paid, it was mostly a good place to stay. We were there for five weeks, though, and the housekeeper never checked in, so we had to track her down when we needed towels and sheets. The maintenance guys were nice but always seemed busy. Our room was small and had large furniture, while the bed was comfortable but didn’t seem as big as the queen I was told it would be. A heavy dresser held down a large throw rug that kept bunching up and creating a trip risk. The bathroom was a good size, but the shower took a while to warm up and had poor pressure.

Everything seemed clean, and I liked the stay at first. But I’m allergic to dogs, and although there was a no-dogs sign, I noticed some guests had dogs there. I decided to switch motels. I would have extended my stay, but seeing the policy not enforced was a major setback.

My sister and I felt safe at the motel, which mattered to us as women under 25. The woman running it was welcoming and even stayed up to greet us when we arrived late. It’s just off Florence’s main road, with everything within walking distance.

The owner, the office lady, is very nice and welcoming, and the rooms are clean. The Riv is always a comfortable stay and the location just off Main St. is great. I do wish they allowed pets. Even having two rooms set aside as pet-friendly would help. My little dog is trained and goes everywhere with me, so having to sneak her in and out made the stay more complicated. It’s an older motel, but it’s clean and well cared for. We heard some noise from kids next door until they went to bed, then it was quiet. The location is great, just a few blocks from everything. I’m looking forward to staying again.
