A last-minute change to our trip had left my wife and me feeling uneasy, but the staff helped make up for it. The price was great for the location, and both the rooms and facilities were impeccable. Lisa at the front desk was pleasant and gave us plenty of helpful information. From arrival through checkout, I felt looked after. We really enjoyed the stay.

We arrived with my family expecting the room I’d booked online through Priceline.com, but staff said the hotel was full because of Art Basel. Our reservation was for December 5th, not December 7th, under Geraldine Pinedo. They offered no help finding another place and said the refund would take 1-2 weeks. We were on a budget and needed the money immediately to book somewhere else. Instead, we spent three hours in the lobby with nowhere to go. When a guest checked out, we begged for that room. Staff said they had nobody to clean it, so we ended up sleeping in another guest’s dirty sheets just to have a roof over our heads. If a hotel overbooks, it should protect the families it displaces and find them similar accommodation. Making guests sleep in unsanitary conditions is unacceptable. The price suited us, and we wanted somewhere convenient for a couple of days near the Keys before our Miami cruise, but we wouldn’t stay again. The room felt stale and dated, wasn’t very clean, and had poor patch jobs, several hairs, and a dried contact lens on the floor. There was also a sticky spot on the sidewalk right outside. The receptionist checking us in was unfriendly, though the morning staff were nicer. When we asked for two extra pillows, she gave my wife some with no pillowcases. She insisted they had covers until I pointed out they weren’t proper covers. She had to ask someone else where the pillowcases were before giving me some. I didn’t want us sleeping on uncovered pillows. Breakfast was decent, nothing special.

We had a smooth check-in, and the staff were all very friendly. We asked for a room at the back because my sister is a light sleeper, and it was quiet at night with no traffic noise. The hotel is clean, quiet, and affordable, and it’s very close to the national parks. We also enjoyed eating outdoors at the clean, well-kept picnic tables in the common areas, with a gentle breeze.
