Riverside Inn and Cottages

Riverside Inn was just right for the one-night Valentine’s weekend break we wanted from our nearby home and usual routine. We stayed in the Folly Cabin, with its giant shower and comfortable sofa area. The room was cozy, as expected, and the scenery and location were lovely. Laura, Kat, and Joyce were outstanding, and the customer service made check-in and checkout simple, with personal touches in each room. The communal kitchen has everything you need, including a continental breakfast and cookies for late-night snacking. It’s a cozy B&B-style cabin with individual rooms and quirks, not a fancy modern hotel, and my wife called it “perfectly cute.” You can walk to everything on Center St and Folly Beach, and other area restaurants are a short drive away. We’ll stay here again when we want to be closer to the beach. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed a quiet stay, but Turtle Nest and the other buildings are really outdated, with Turtle Nest especially needing updates soon. The downstairs bed has an old box spring and was very uncomfortable. Its fan only has one setting, full blast or off, and the shower has no liner, so even a quick shower leaves the bathroom floor soaked. The downstairs mirror is about 5 inches wide, and the TVs are very small. The front desk only answers the phone sometimes, and they say they’re unable to access the cameras even if something suspicious happens or an item is stolen. I noticed several things other hotels updated years ago.

The marsh beside the Folly Cabin was peaceful and relaxing, and the beach was only a quick walk away. They’ve thought of everything for beach days, with chairs, umbrellas, sandcastle supplies, and more. Breakfast was a lovely touch, too, with plenty of coffee choices, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and other options. The cabin was spotless and cozy, with an unbelievably comfortable bed and couch and a double shower that felt great after the beach. The owners were friendly, easy to find when we needed anything, and clearly care about the property. We had a great time at Riverside Inn and Cottages and will definitely return. Highly recommend!

I’ve stayed here twice in the last 6 months and had a great time both times. The property is amazing, the staff are great, and the location puts you right in the middle of everything. We’re already planning our next trip!
