Hilton Garden Inn Folsom

The breakfast and service were both great, and the room was clean and comfortable. We brought our dog and appreciated that there was no size limit. I’d happily stay again. One odd detail: the bathroom has a bar by the shower and a hook on the door, but nowhere to hang the hand towel. Why not add a towel bar for it?

The room was spacious, and the staff were warm and friendly. Parking was plentiful and free, and the setting was quiet and calm. It’s handy to have a gas station next door, outlet malls nearby, and the historic downtown area close by. We had a nice meal, including salmon and street tacos, and the wings and Pinot were good too. I never made it to breakfast since I go to bed late and don’t wake up in time. The shower had good water flow, and the TV was okay, with Netflix available if you logged in. The AC was the frustrating part: it kept switching off when I wanted continuous fan, and I couldn’t control it to block noise from other rooms.

I usually stay at Marriott hotels for business, but tried Hilton this time and got none of the basics I need: simple booking, a clean room, working wifi, a decent workout and an easy breakfast. I booked same day through Hilton Honors, arrived late, and was told they were full. They raised my rate by $50, found me a room and gave me a bag of chips. Beer cost extra, and the bed wasn’t clean, so I was glad I’d brought my sleeping sack. Wifi kept dropping during business Zoom calls. The Peloton wasn’t connected, and although the front desk said maintenance would enter the security code to get it working, nobody came. When I asked about breakfast nearby, the desk staff didn’t know the area and offered their unappealing buffet for $20. I guess breakfast still wasn’t included after the extra $50. Sorry, Hilton, I’m sticking with Marriott.

We slept in comfortably thanks to the good blackout curtains and comfortable bed. The room was large and very clean. Breakfast downstairs was nice, and the restaurant was peaceful with friendly staff.
