Lake Natoma Inn

A lovely walking trail runs behind the hotel, and downtown Historical Folsom, with its shops for browsing or finding a special gift, is only a short walk away. The staff were amazing, and my room was clean and very nice. There’s a small bar downstairs and a good menu for sitting down to eat. It’s a very nice place, and I’d definitely stay again.

We paid an extra $80 for a king room and ended up with a run down double room. Hopefully Amex fraud protection can help. We called the hotel number, and a third party handled the reservation while claiming to represent the hotel. We paid for a room and felt baited and switched. This wasn’t through an online booking site. We take responsibility for getting scammed, but the hotel partners with and accepts business from shady booking companies like the one that booked us. The front desk response and the poor hotel experience made things worse, and the reply to this review also gives a sense of how issues are handled. The front desk could care less. Just know before you go.

I’ve stayed at Lake Natoma Inn several times over the years. It’s a nice hotel, conveniently close to Folsom DT and the river walk, with comfortable bedding and linens. The one thing I wish they’d address is how loudly the self-closing room doors shut. With guests and housekeeping coming and going, the noise can keep happening. Apart from that, it’s a really nice place to stay.

The place was clean, cozy and beautiful, but the way they handled our room was strange. At 11:30 pm, the front desk called to wake us and ask whether we’d checked in and what our names were. Later, we took our things to the car and went for a walk. When we came back, two hours before checkout, they’d already stripped the room and checked us out. We missed the short rest we’d planned before getting back on the road.
