Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fond Du Lac by IHG

We had fun swimming, but the pool itself is tiny, with a capacity of 29 even though the hotel has four floors of rooms. The pool area gets warm and echoes like crazy, so my daughter and I could barely hear each other. The water was a good temperature, though it looked noticeably greenish and tasted very salty. The deep end seemed to be around 4' 9". I thought there'd be a hot tub, but there wasn't one. I brought my daughter for a getaway and was floored that the Booking.com total came to almost $400. The front desk lady said, "sorry there's nothing we can do about that," so I paid and moved on. That's on me, but I wouldn't spend that much on a hotel unless it had a Waterpark. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the beds and pillows let me sleep GOOD! But the outlets on one side of the bed wouldn't hold a plug, and the Keurig didn't work. They put in an order for it and said maintenance would look, but they arrived about half an hour before we left, so I went downstairs for coffee instead. The door felt like it weighed 100 lbs. It closed slowly, then slammed at the end, so I tried to guide it shut to keep from bothering the neighbors. At least the hallway lights looked really cool lol.

Customer service was phenomenal, and I would stay again if the bed were replaced. In Room 428 King Suite, there was lots of space, but the bed was hard and uncomfortable. There was also an old-looking drip stain on the wall behind the sink. I paid over $400 for two nights.

The General Manager was there when I checked in and welcomed me with a smile. I saw the same friendly face at the front desk the next morning as I headed to work, and again when I got back that afternoon. She seems to enjoy her career and is clearly dedicated to making guests' stays the best they can be. The staff are always pleasant and friendly. Everything was great.

The rooms are decent and breakfast was good, but I wouldn't bring kids here. One staff member would allow something, then another would say no, and they threatened to kick us out for the kids just being kids. Fine for a work trip, overall. Leave your kids at home....
