Restwel Motel

We arrived around 2am on our way to ND, and the owner was so nice and checked us in without a hitch. The room and bathroom were clean, and they even upgraded us to two queen beds for free. We really appreciated that! 😊

With the new owners, staying here felt like visiting friends, and it was cleaner too. Everyone was friendly, even after hours when I locked myself out, and again after I left some belongings behind. It’s dog friendly, with grass out front and a residential neighborhood around it for walks. You can park right by your door and feel safe walking the dog around the neighborhood at night. It’s close to the interstate, but still within walking distance of a convenience store and other amenities. We’ll make this our regular stop when traveling through.

If you’re driving 94 across Northeast montana, or hunting in the area, keep Mike and the Restwel on your list. This was easily the best small hotel of our whole trip. I was lucky to find it in forsyth. It’s the kind of owner-run, drive-up motel from another era, the sort of place that would fit right into the 60s or 70s. Don’t come expecting roomy bathrooms or carefully coordinated Euro contemporary decor. But if you like an authentic small-town place where the owner lives on site, this is as good as it gets.

The rooms were nice, clean, and came with generous amenities, and the staff were super nice. Even though it’s near train tracks, I didn’t hear any train horns, which was a relief. Mike was awesome. Hope he’s doing well!
