We drove 4 hour drive down from Sacramento for my husband's birthday. What stayed with me most was the view, the quiet, and the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Listening to it was breathtaking. The hotel staff were very helpful, and our room and beds were very clean. Each building had a special name, which we thought was cool. It's a beautiful, quiet town on the Mendocino Coast, about 2 hours from Sonoma CA. This little hotel feels like a 5 star place, but hard to get there is why 2 star. State Beach is right next door, and the Skunk Train is a must-do for history about the Redwood Trees while visiting. There's no ROOM SERVICE, and everything closes up by 9pm, so come prepared or eat early.

On our 2 week Pacific Coast Highway roadtrip, this was my favorite hotel by far. We loved stepping out the patio door for a beach walk, then sitting on the balcony to watch the sunset, look for whales, and listen to the waves. The room was spacious and very nice, the staff were great, and the rates were reasonable. 10/10, highly recommend staying here.

For us, it's all about the location: right on the ocean, with beautiful views and fresh air. It's dog friendly, and a multi-use road runs between the hotel and beach for dog walkers, joggers, bike riders, and others. We have family in town and have stayed here several times over the past couple years. Customer service is really good, and the staff are friendly.

The room was surprisingly quiet even though it’s right off the highway, and getting to it was easy. We slept really well in the comfortable beds. The bathroom was nice too, with a great shower and water that stayed perfectly hot. If stairs are fine with you, an upstairs room with a balcony gives you the best view.

We watched the high surf and gorgeous sunsets right from our room’s deck. The waves were beautiful.
