The Beach House Inn

My main frustration was trying to work remotely. The wifi kept dropping, and I couldn’t connect to my work VPN, which was a huge issue. The bed was also really uncomfortable, just ultra-firm springs, and definitely needs replacing with a decent pillowtop mattress. There’s no AC, so the room got pretty hot even in October, and I left the balcony door open until late. On the plus side, the rooms were very clean and quiet, the soaker tub in the king room was really nice, and staff were friendly and helpful. They promptly brought a new desk chair when I reported the broken one, and phone call express checkout was easy. They also helped me promptly after another hotel stood me up because nobody answered for remote check-in. They have pet-friendly rooms, and there’s a little cemetery across the street for a quiet dog walk. Cafes and shops are about 1/2 a mile away.

We stayed one night, then decided to leave. Online, it looked like a different place from the old, outdated rooms with wallpaper and a musty smell. The patio seemed dry-rotted and like it couldn’t hold your weight. There weren’t any amenities like a pool or hot tub. The shower was clean and the best part of the stay, and the large tub in the room had jets.

The room was clean and comfortable, but for the mid $300s we paid for one night, the limited amenities and warm nights felt like a lot. Maybe there was a surge that week. Parking was decent, though it filled quickly. We had two large, comfortable queen beds and a modern look with updated wall finishes. The bathroom had a big shower, nice towels, and quality bath products. The balcony looked over a coastal pond, not the beach, so the view was pleasant but not oceanfront. AC couldn’t be adjusted and there were no fans, which made it warm at night. The buildings have about four units each and feel more like condominiums than a traditional hotel. Each has its own lock as well as the room lock, which felt reassuring. Front desk staff were very nice and gave good recommendations for things to do. Just be aware they aren’t open around the clock, closing around 9-10 pm. I was satisfied, but not wowed, so four stars.

Cassie at the front desk was amazing and made our stay. She was so cordial, friendly, and polite. I’d definitely recommend her, and they shouldn’t lose her, because they’d probably lose a lot of business without her.
