Davis Mountains Inn

Davis Mountains Inn made a comfortable, peaceful home base for taking in the mountains and those West Texas skies. It’s a lovely, thoughtfully run place in Fort Davis, and I found the stay relaxing. Thank you!

We were sorry we hadn’t booked more time here. The Sleeping Lion room was great, with its own entrance off the back patio and a big jetted tub. The hosts noticed us arriving and showed us around. It’s easy to see why people like this B&B: the hosts are welcoming, the rooms and shared living spaces are roomy, and the backyard and porch are beautiful. It’s affordable, too. Coffee is ready at 7am, and breakfast comes out 8-9am. The place really does feel like home.

I found this place after Indian Springs Lodge was closed, and it turned out to be a great choice. The hosts made us feel welcome, breakfast was delicious, and there was plenty of parking. Our room was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and quiet. It would work well for visiting either Davis Mountains State Park or the McDonald Observatory.

After a long day out in the West Texas mountains, this was a cozy spot to come back to. The house is just outside town, and on a new moon night you can see so many stars. Barb is easygoing and fun to talk with, and she makes a delicious breakfast. She’s created a charming place that feels like home. Our Guides Peak room was clean, roomy, air conditioned, and had its own bathroom. I especially liked the impressive four-poster bed and its great mattress. The landscaping smelled lovely, and we enjoyed the property and wraparound porches. There’s lots to do nearby, so we wished we could stay longer and hope to return soon. We knew from the description that this was a B&B, not a hotel.
