Budget Host Inn Fort Dodge

Cockroaches in the room. When I took one to the front desk, the staff offered to move us to another room that also had roaches, and they acted as if it was normal. They didn't seem disgusted like we were, which made me sick. I wonder whether the connected restaurant knows there are cockroaches here. Be careful if you stay, and bring plastic bags for your belongings. It's cheap, but absolutely not worth it.

My room was clean and everything worked properly. The place is a bit dated, but it was still a nice stay for the price, especially with the pool, hot tub, and bar and grill on site. WiFi and satellite TV are free too. I'd stay here again when visiting Fort Dodge.

I've stayed here twice, both times with adjoining rooms for the kids. It's a nice spot for a quiet weekend away, and the pool is spacious and very clean. The hot tub is nice too, and our rooms were poolside both times, which was handy. The decor is a bit dated, but the staff are friendly. I tried a drink from the bar on site and thought it was okay. There's coffee, cappuccino, vending machines, and a couple of arcade games. They don't serve breakfast, but I'd rather have the lower prices than free bagels. Great job by the staff.

I've spent long stretches at this hotel while working in towns around Fort Dodge. The beds and bedding could use upgrades, but the good outweighs the bad. It's an older place, yet well maintained, and when something comes up they handle it quickly and politely. The owner, Joe, stays involved and cares about the day-to-day operation. Terri and Fred are professional and helpful with local directions and general needs, and they make for a comfortable stay. Terri can even tell you the weather by the Wooly worm. I'd gladly return.
