The lobby is beautiful and makes a good first impression, but the rest of my four-day stay at Chateau Mar Golf Resort Trademark Collection by Wyndham was disappointing. There’s an old, musty smell throughout the lobby and common areas, and the property doesn’t look like the online photos. Calling it a “resort” felt misleading. Security was a bigger concern: late at night nobody was at the front desk, anyone could walk in, use the elevators without a key, and reach any guest floor. Our room was underwhelming, with very low water pressure, a clogged sink, no full-length mirror or microwave, and no chairs or seating area. We had specifically booked a double room with a sofa, clearly advertised on multiple booking sites, but on arrival were told those rooms were only for extended stays. The front desk attendant had no solution, the manager never followed up, and we were left cramped in a smaller room while paying the higher rate. The place has potential, but poor booking transparency, missing basic amenities, little security, and unresolved service issues made the stay frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend it until these problems are addressed, especially for anyone expecting what “resort” suggests.

When I arrived yesterday, two women at the front desk welcomed me warmly. One seemed new to the role, but checked me in wonderfully and made sure I had what I needed. The other knew a lot about the hotel and area and shared their history, which showed me how much she cared about the company and keeping its culture alive. After a late night, Ariel offered me a late checkout so I could get enough rest. Her attentiveness and kindness were much appreciated, and her warm smile and customer service when I left were amazing.

The staff were quick, kind, and helpful, and the style is unique and enjoyable. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in, and the price was below average for the area. Guests I passed in the lobby and elevator were quiet and kept to themselves. Still, this isn’t a luxury resort. The room had no microwave, and the retro-cute fridge was tiny. The walls are paper thin, and the parking lot has little to no lighting. My biggest issue was other guests later on: loud in the halls and rooms, TVs blaring so you could hear what they were watching, and cars flying through the parking lot like it was a freeway. I won’t be back because of the guests, though the place itself wasn’t bad.

Date of stay: March 6, 2026. My husband and I chose this hotel for one night after our cruise, before flying home, because we were excited about its “Old Hollywood” history and vintage artifacts. The artifacts were interesting, and the woman who checked us in was amazing and professional. But the history was the only thing that lived up to expectations. The rooms were very outdated and frankly dirty, and didn’t feel well maintained. A housekeeper mopping nearly knocked my husband and me over, then didn’t acknowledge us or apologize. I rarely leave bad reviews, but this was so disappointing that I’ll never stay here again. The cool artifacts couldn’t make up for the lack of cleanliness and rude service.

I stayed from August to November on a long-term rate and always paid on time, so I paid quite a bit. My experience ended in a traumatic way after staff said I’d damaged a towel. Instead of simply charging me, they called police while I was with my minor children, even though I was calm, peaceful, and cooperative. I swear! General Manager Alison handled it poorly and seemed oblivious. She gave me a fixed rate, but her staff kept changing it. Assistant Manager Mariah’s behavior and attitude made me feel discriminated against, and Dana was rude and dismissive throughout my stay. Dana even argued with me in front of police after I told her she was treating me wrongly. What should have been a simple, professional conversation became an unnecessary ordeal. I left feeling disrespected and unsafe with my family, and I’m still traumatized. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, especially for families or anyone expecting fairness, professionalism, or basic hospitality. Only one elevator works, the TV remotes don’t, and the AC doesn’t work. The Haitian maintenance man with gold teeth fixes everything and is great, though I don’t know his name. Cleanliness was fair. Ariel was kind and understanding and deserves a promotion for her hospitality. Housekeeper Emanuella was wonderful, but the head housekeeper was annoying, and I don’t know her name. I hope one day they’re treated the way they treated me. As someone who helps this community a lot, I don’t recommend bringing your family here. I should have been treated with integrity.
