Crocodhouse

My friend and I stayed one night and neither of us slept. The place felt unsafe, and the cleanliness was unacceptable. The towel had stains, and our bodies started itching as soon as we sat on the bed. It was an uncomfortable, distressing stay, and I wouldn't recommend it.

My VRBO booking turned out to be for a place that didn't exist, but I got lucky and found Crocodhouse two blocks from the location I'd planned to stay. It was clean, with hot showers, fresh bedding, a nice common area, and a gated entrance. Lots of restaurants and bars are a short walk away. I felt safe walking around alone at night, and I'd stay there again.

The bedroom fan was broken, and the place feels worn out. In the bathroom, the ceiling was peeling and there was mold, as the pictures show. Outside, the seating area was a mess, with trash left beside the bin that smelled like something had died in it.

For the price, this place gave me a lot: clean room, spotless bathroom, soft beds, and plenty of storage, especially in a private room. The kitchen had lots of food storage space, the AC worked well, and there was a fan in the room. Other guests were really nice and even shared food and drinks. It's a great location and pretty quiet. The woman on the phone was friendly and happy to help. The one downside was William, the house manager. He's a grumpy older guy with some arrogance, and simple questions often seemed to annoy him. You mainly see him at check-in, then he keeps to himself, so it can be avoided or worked through. It's no Taj Mahal, but for such a low price, I felt I got my money's worth and then some. I'd recommend it to solo travelers.
