The parking situation was abysmal. There are only six spaces out front and another six in the rear for 16 units, with no reserved or assigned spots. They warn they’ll tow without a parking permit, but when I asked about the shortage, they said it wasn’t their problem. The rear lot is shared with a waterfront restaurant and its employees, and it seems easy to damage a car there, especially on a weekend. Lowki never gave us the door codes for the two perimeter gates on each wing, so another visitor had to share a code. There’s no staff on-site. The units are old apartments that have been lightly renovated as Airbnbs, and the advertised capacity of 3-5 people is a stretch. They’re small, more like a small one-bedroom, and fit two or three at most unless you bring an inflatable mattress. The sofa bed was uncomfortable and only suitable for a preteen or large child, though the foam mattress in the main room was very comfortable. In the bathroom, there were unpainted white patches where holes may have been filled. The towels were old, dingy red and green ones like Goodwill towels. Salad bowls and other kitchen items had food stains and weren’t clean. Drips that looked like chemical or bleach stains covered much of the kitchen, bedroom, living room, and bathroom walls, and the unit smelled strongly of chemicals when we arrived. The location seems convenient, next to the water taxi and performing arts center, but it’s directly behind the old mini downtown. Las Olas Boulevard is a 10-minute walk east. If dive bars and ratchet nightclubs are your scene, you may like the area. We stayed one night at the end of our South Florida trip, our first time in Ft. Lauderdale, and these mini apartments cost about what a hotel room would. We won’t return. Pay more for a better location and a cleaner room.

The location is the best part. You’re right in the middle of the action day and night without paying chain hotel prices. It’s also close to the free water shuttle stop, the free beach shuttle bus, and a bus station with a direct route to Sawgrass premium outlet. I’d definitely stay again, despite the noise. The door lock is loose, so outside sounds, especially rowdy guests coming back late, are easy to hear. The ceiling fan and AC fan are noisy, and the walls are thin. For two nights in a row, the TVs turned on by themselves while the remote was far from the bed. Bring earplugs and an eye mask. The towels and linen aren’t the nicest quality. I wish there were a safe and better door locks.

The location was great, walkable to restaurants, bars, nightlife, and the river promenade. The bed was comfortable, but the room didn’t have a large enough table, comfortable chairs, or armchairs to make it pleasant for anything besides sleeping. The AC was dusty and terribly loud, so for me it was either air conditioning or sleep. As a single guy, I managed fine, but if you bring a good girl she might not be impressed and could consider the many other mating options in the Fort :D At the end of my three-week stay, which cost about $2.5k total, they charged an extra $20 to replace a few white towels they couldn’t wash back to pristine condition for the next guests. It left a bad taste. In around 20 years of active travel, no hotel anywhere else has charged me extra for towels they couldn’t restore. Who cares about $20? Still, when a business has already made a few thousand dollars from me and then goes out of its way to squeeze another $20, I won’t stay there again or recommend doing business with them.

I’ve stayed at Riverbend by Lowkl twice now, and I really like it. It works great for a weekend, and the spot near Broward St. is really convenient.

The team was quick and professional whenever we had a question or concern. Our apartment was clean, cozy, and well cared for, and the location near the Brightline station was perfect. We had a fantastic stay and I’d happily recommend these apartments for a comfortable, convenient visit to Ft. Lauderdale.
