La Casa Del Mar

The building is beautiful and private, and the room was really clean. The location is convenient, just half a block from the beach. The one downside was the bed in our particular room, which was hard as a sidewalk. Hopefully the other rooms have softer beds. We’d stay here again, but in another room.

The location was good, but I got bed bugs here. I stayed a while ago and have been trying for weeks to get rid of them. I don’t travel much, so I know they came from this place. I also found a clear, worm-like thing in the bed. I was there with family, and the person sharing my bed had the same experience, while the other bed didn’t.

Lisa, I think that was her name, was the woman we spoke with most of the time, and I’d give her six stars on her own. The staff were pleasant and friendly, and the room was clean and smelled fresh when we arrived. The outdoor area was pretty, with lots of palm trees and plants, and the beach is less than a minute away on foot. I took off a star because the kitchen area could use updating and there wasn’t a real freezer, which I needed. Apart from that, I’d highly recommend it and would stay again.

The courtyard was quaint and quiet, and we liked that we could walk everywhere, including the beach. Check-in was easy to do ourselves, and parking is available if you need it. Our clean room came with plenty of towels and little soaps, though we didn’t have beach towels. It’s an affordable two-star hotel near the beach, pretty much as advertised. For our two-night stay, the problems weren’t a huge deal, but I wouldn’t want to stay longer. The refrigerator didn’t work, so we needed to walk to Starbucks for ice for our drinks. I never saw anyone on site to report it to. We didn’t cook, and I wouldn’t have anyway, since the kitchen was extremely small. The updates seemed half finished, the floor was uneven, the TV hanging on the wall by a wire looked odd, and the A/C barely kept up even in January. I wouldn’t stay here in a warm month. The place feels rickety but has so much potential. The courtyard especially could be spruced up.
