The Royal Inn Beach Hotel Hutchinson Island

The beach and pier are right across the street, and several restaurants and bars are an easy walk away. I stayed for one night and thought this was a decent little motel for the price. The staff were great. I didn't use the pool, but it looked nice.

Anna at the front desk brought such great energy and made a really good first impression. The room was clean and nice. It was super windy, so we rested with the door open and let the breeze come through. I'll definitely be back. Thanks again, Anna!

The housekeepers deserve credit. They care about their work and keep the rooms clean. The hotel itself is old and run down, though, with a lot needing replacement. The online room photos aren't truthful, and the ocean view is blocked by grown trees. The advertised private beach access has been closed by the city after hurricane erosion. The nearest access is a mile away, and that whole stretch of beach is eroded and not enjoyable. We had to slam our old door with our bodies every time we came in. There's mold on the ceiling, possibly from water damage, and the balconies overlook the parking lot. Fast food is four miles away in a rough area, while the nearby bar and grills are expensive. Without the housekeepers, I think this hotel would go out of business.

We paid and then left because the place looked nothing like its ads. The first room had an old AC unit from the 1940s and a bed that sagged in the middle like it had been used forever. They showed us another room where you could see the ocean, but the mold smell was overpowering. If they're charging that much, they should put some of the money into fixing the place up.
