Spark by Hilton Fort Stockton

After a long drive over icy roads, Vanessa at the front desk patiently showed us different rooms until we found one that worked for my husband’s power wheelchair. She was amazing and really helpful. The hotel felt clean and safe, and breakfast was decent. There wasn’t hot food, but they had hardboiled eggs, bagels, muffins, coffee, and STASH tea!!!!

My wife was especially happy with the coffee and hot water machine in the breakfast area, and when the oat milk ran out, the kitchen staff topped it up right away. We also found the bed very comfortable, with a desk and side chair in the room. We’ve stayed here twice recently, and both visits were fantastic. Spark may be one of Hilton’s low-end brands, but the staff were friendly, the room and public areas were clean, breakfast was more than adequate, and the fitness center was well equipped. It didn’t have a Peloton bike like most Hilton properties. This must be the best Spark hotel in Texas.

There’s plenty of parking, and the hotel is right off the freeway, which was convenient. We liked the room, though the first floor had hardwood instead of carpet. Service was poor. Nobody greeted us when we arrived, and getting extra towels became a problem. First they said we could only have two more, then when I came back to ask again they made an issue of it. I was traveling with a family of five, including small children, so asking for extra towel sets seemed completely reasonable. I’ve never had a hotel make that such a hassle.

The front desk staff were really nice and helpful, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The rooms are modern and updated, with a nice hot shower and good water pressure. It’s also just a couple of minutes from several restaurants and stores. The air conditioner had a little musty smell, though it wasn’t strong enough to affect our comfort. The bathroom light is a design issue rather than a maintenance problem, but a bright white bulb would be better than the yellowish soft light for putting on makeup.
