Hampton Inn & Suites Ft. Wayne-North

The room was a letdown: when I stripped the pull-out mattress on our way out, I found red stains ALL OVER it. I wish I'd taken a picture. The bathtub was stained and wouldn't drain, so we had to stand in dirty water. There was a huge cereal spill in the hallway that stayed there all weekend, and the place generally felt dirty. The pool area wasn't maintained, and the pool itself is literally falling apart. Our group agreed the hotel needs a serious deep clean and update. I was even more wary of letting my kids swim in the chemical pool, and their hair felt like straw afterwards. We stayed at the Tru down the road last time, and we'll go there next time. The lobby was beautiful, breakfast was wonderful, and the front desk staff were kind, especially the man who kept the breakfast area in tip-top shape. Once you leave the lobby, good luck.

The staff are really good, and breakfast is good and free. But unless you get a suite, interstate traffic makes the hotel noisy. There's a fridge in the room, but you have to go to the lobby to use a microwave. Even low-end hotels put one in the room. It feels like staying at a Super 8 and paying three times as much. I won't stay here again.

Marcia checked us in, and over the week she quickly started to feel like a friend. We felt right at home here. Our suite had plenty of room, with the bedroom set apart from the rest, and it was clean. Phil kept breakfast hot and fresh for the entire serving time. Everyone was so welcoming. I’m glad we stayed.

The room was prepaid and confirmed for my work trip by my boss, but checking in turned into a mess because the hotel apparently only accepts check-in through the app. I called my boss, who completed it and sent screenshots, but the hotel still couldn’t find anything in its system. After 20 minutes I finally got a key, with a warning that I’d need to return to the desk if it wasn’t sorted by 8. At 8 they called to say it still wasn’t finalized, so my boss sent more receipts, confirmations, and virtual check-in screenshots. Still nothing showed up. The desk refused to charge the card on file, so I had to use my own card for incidentals. They also asked us to email the screenshots back and forth, then said they’d send my boss a separate authorization email, but not until morning. On top of that, an elevator light was out and the hallway baseboards had been torn off. I’m really disappointed, and so is my boss.
