Wyndham Garden Fort Wayne

Everyone was kind and helpful, and the rooms were clean and nice, just standard rooms. The hot tub in ours was actually a whirlpool tub, though we expected what was shown in the photos. Breakfast had hot choices and the usual eggs, ham, cereal, fruit, and pancakes. The ham tasted a bit funky. They also had hot tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, and milk. The pool was closed for winter since it goes from indoors to outdoors, but it’s probably nice in summer. There’s a nice workout facility too. The hotel has a bar with food, though I didn’t visit it on this trip.

My sister booked a room at Wyndham Garden Fort Wayne for three nights. Late on the first night, February 8, while we were chatting, she spotted a bug crawling on her bed and asked me to look. It was a bedbug. I’ve dealt with infestations before, know a lot about them, and have had awful allergic reactions to their bites. She killed it, we packed up, and left to find another hotel. On the way out, my sister told the front desk woman what we’d found. She said she’d put a note in the system and that my sister would hopefully get a refund. Since then my sister has called several times to ask about it, but has been given the runaround and still hasn’t received a refund. It feels incredibly unsupportive, like they don’t care about guests or customer service. We also noticed general filth throughout the hotel and our room, some strange smells, and that the hot tub shown on the website had been cemented in. I really hope they take this bedbug report seriously so other guests don’t get bitten, or worse, take one home in their bag and start another infestation.

Right off the interstate, it’s a great value and a great place to stay. The welcome was warm, the small indoor pool was comfortable and warm for a dip, and the tubs were deep. The sheets were crisp and white, the pillows were fat, and there’s a courtyard for smoking. Food choices are right nearby, and it’s 15 minutes from the coliseum and downtown. I’ll stay there again next time I’m up for a show.

The pool is really tiny and I think only about three feet deep. We skipped swimming because too many little kids were in such a small pool. Also, it definitely doesn’t have a hot tub anymore.
