The room was clean, spacious, and fairly well maintained despite signs of age, and the bed was comfortable, as this brand usually is. I’d have preferred a walk-in shower for the extra space, and the window shade was old, dry-rotted, and coming apart. Staff were friendly and helpful at both check-in and checkout, which I appreciated. The grand main entrance, with its high ceilings and sweeping staircases on both sides, made a striking first impression. But my room was in a separate building that didn’t connect to it. It was on the second floor, and there’s no elevator, so anyone who needs help with stairs should know that before booking. The hallways were quite worn, with utility doors left open and supplies exposed. I hope that was only staff-related and not something guests could access. People smoking and hanging around near the hallway entrance detracted from the stay, and the nearby hotels are so close together that it’s easy to walk into the wrong building by mistake. The layout and upkeep in some areas hold the property back. With a better design and more consistent care, it could have been much more than it is.

I didn’t make it 36 hours in the room before finding a literal crack pipe, getting bed bug bites, spotting a dead shriveled bed bug, and seeing dirty sheets that looked like they had bed bug feces and possibly human feces on them. I’d booked this hotel for about a week while relocating to Fort Worth because my apartment wasn’t going to be ready yet. After all that, they didn’t want to return my money, though they eventually did. Do not stay here.

Housekeeping took our towels and didn’t replace them, then left the room door open. Anyone could have walked in, and the room was never actually cleaned. The room at Quality Inn Fort Worth – Downtown East was in awful shape: dirty sheets, a toilet that clearly hadn’t been cleaned, visible mold on the ceiling, ripped curtains, and highway noise that was unbearably loud all night. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this was one of my most uncomfortable and unsafe hotel stays. I wouldn’t recommend it.

There was visible crud on the comforter, and the parking lot felt very unsafe. In the breakfast room, an unhoused man accosted me and wanted me to let him into the keyed bathroom. Breakfast was the saddest, most pathetic hotel breakfast I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with. Even the mini fridge for the yogurt wasn’t cold, so I didn’t trust it. Don’t stay here.

The rooms smelled like marijuana, and homeless people were sleeping in the parking lot. The front desk clerk kept asking for a tip. At $65 a night, I think you can find better places. It might be okay if you’re just staying overnight, but I wouldn’t bring my family because the area seems pretty sketchy.
