Super 8 by Wyndham Fortuna

The location worked really well for us. Avenue of the Giants is under 20 minutes away, historic Ferndale under 15, and Eureka under 40. For a small-town area, Fortuna felt like a larger city, with several grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, and coffee shops. The motel is across from Eel Brewery, the first organic brewery, with friendly people and a beautiful patio. The river walk is about a five-minute walk, nice for a Mormon stroll. Our room was spacious and modern, with nice decor, comfortable beds, and A/C that worked great. There was plenty of parking, and the front desk staff were friendly and informative. The amenities included a microwave, refrigerator, and large flat-screen TV with multiple channels. I liked the sink being outside the shower and toilet, and the water pressure was wonderful. The towels were soft and the lamps gave the room a cozy feel. Breakfast was good too, with yogurt, cereal, pancakes, oatmeal, muffins, juice, coffee, and tea. Cozy, clean, and a great price. I highly recommend staying here.

I checked in at midnight without a reservation, and the person at the front desk was very nice. Great price and room, with clean, comfy beds, lovely decor, and a newer bathroom. No carpet on the floor, which is great for people with allergies.

It exceeded my expectations: very clean and well maintained, right down to the parking lot. There’s no elevator, and the breakfast area is small but adequate. The highway is easy to reach, and the hotel is near the riverwalk.

The price was reasonable for California, and it was clean, quiet, and mostly free of riff raff. I visit Fortuna often to see my gbabies, and I’ll stay here again if the price stays doable. Solid B+.
