The problems kept adding up. Ants were coming under the room door and through cracks, and it took a week of reminders before anyone dealt with them. The walls are thin too, so you hear nearly everything, including residents yelling at each other. If you need some peace or privacy, this place may wear you down. I lost running water for 10 days because the pipes weren’t insulated properly. They offered to take $10 off for each day without water, but the monthly price went from about $1,050 to $950, so the reduction didn’t really make up for it. The pricing was frustrating in other ways too. I’d asked about a weekly rate of $200, but they didn’t mention it, apparently because I don’t use Facebook. I found a Facebook offer for $800 after paying $950 the week before, with no prorating. Check Facebook for a better price before booking. For healthcare workers, I’d stick with Furnished Finders, which has been reliable and doesn’t leave you needing to gather all your supplies. Things were okay before management changed. The stay was advertised as including free electricity, and the previous manager confirmed I could charge my EV. Under the new management, electricity is supposedly included but charging an EV apparently isn’t. I only need about $3 of electricity for a month, yet there’s been constant back and forth over it, wasting my time. Honestly, listen to the earlier reviews.

I absolutely love staying here! Some of the rooms at The Heldreth Motel have been remodeled recently, and it’s a good budget option with a decent bed, WiFi, TV, air conditioning, a fridge, microwave, and a bath-shower combo. Kingwood pool is less than a mile away and makes a nice summer afternoon outing. Preston Memorial Hospital is also under a mile away. For food, there are plenty of places within a mile, from Hardee’s, Fox’s Pizza Den, Burger King, Subway, Pizza Hut, Little Cesar’s Pizza, McDonald’s, and Dairy Queen to the Preston Inn and Hitching post steakhouse if you’d rather sit down. Walmart and Shop n Save are just a short drive away. It’s a small town, and The Heldreth Motel has been part of Kingwood for years.

The outside nearly put me off, but once inside it turned out to be a decent stay. My room was clean and nice, and they had soaps in there. The TV seems mostly decorative since it wasn’t connected to WiFi. If you just need somewhere in the area to get some sleep, this works.

The kitchenette even had an oven, and the water stayed hot enough the whole time. I was impressed by the huge TV too, and the bed was soft. I’ll definitely book again.

I haven’t stayed yet, but I’ve seen the renovated rooms and they look great and very clean. What’s confusing is the pricing. We’re traveling to a nearby healthcare facility, and we’ve all been quoted different rates: one coworker pays $30 a night, another got a midweek special of $119 for three nights, and someone else was told the regular rate is $70 a night, with much cheaper rates if the stay starts on Friday. The owner needs to set clear rates because it seems some people are being charged more.
