Stonybrook Motel & Lodge

The views around the property are pretty, but last night's stay was unpleasant. The room smelled of mildew and the carpet felt wet the whole time. There was HAIR throughout the bathroom, toothpaste spots on the mirror, and even the tip envelope was filthy. I only got one towel, and the TV kept glitching. I chose this place mainly for the pool, but the entrance was locked and the pool wasn't available. I took a lot of photos of the room's condition and wish I could post them here. 10 out of 10 would not recommend staying here.

We booked two nights at Stoney Brook Motel in Franconia, NH, but checked out after one because the stay was terrible. The room had bugs, a leaking sink, and an A/C that wasn't working properly. I reported the sink, and staff told me there was no immediate fix for the A/C. The staff and service were unhelpful, and my family and I felt uncomfortable with their attitude and responsiveness. We raised these issues politely during the stay. Breakfast was terrible, with almost nothing worth eating. I understand it may be simple, but the quality and service didn't match the high price, comparable to a 2-3 star hotel. The conditions were unacceptable, and I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone. To be clear, the bugs weren't ladybugs, the sink was leaking, and I was told the A/C couldn't be fixed right away. I respect that this is a family-run motel and appreciate the response, but honest guest feedback matters so future travelers can make informed choices and the experience can improve.

After a few days at Best Western, where the price kept going up each night, we looked for another option and were pleased to find this place. We stayed one night in August. The room was clean, with good heating and A/C, and windows on both sides for excellent ventilation. The price was very good, and parking was right outside the room. The only drawback I can think of is that there's no washing machine on site. I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in NH.

Stonybrook works well for people watching their budget. The decor may look dated, but it's conveniently close to skiing, hiking, and swimming. The staff are always friendly, and there are plenty of pillows and blankets. Rooms can be kept warm or cool to suit you. I stay here regularly and could go elsewhere if I wanted to.
