Hampton Inn Frederick

We booked because the hotel was one of the cheaper options around and scored highly on several booking sites. We were in town for a volleyball tournament, but regretted the choice. The place felt dark, dingy, and dirty. Used washcloths were hanging in the shower when we arrived, drywall mud was slopped around the bathroom, the toilet paper holder was falling out of the wall, and the toilet ran all night. The HVAC didn't seem to work properly either, and we couldn't find a comfortable temperature. Since we were only planning to sleep there, we pushed through without raising our concerns with management. But our room was near the outdoor bar, and the noise made it hard for the family to rest. It sounded like people were partying in our room. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially for a family.

The bright spot was the breakfast cook, who was kind and thoughtful, so I left with at least one positive thought. The night service, though, was dreadful. I had to wait until morning to get a price match from the actual Hilton website. The drive to the hotel wasn't clearly marked and needs to be repaved. The rooms are dated, and they haven't been properly cared for in a long time. Dated is one thing, abused is another. Saying the property is on an update list and will have fresh rooms soon is no excuse, it just lets management carry on mismanaging it and feel better about not doing its job. This is the worst Hampton, Hilton property I've stayed in. Frederick visitors, please don't stay here. There are other properties within eye shot. Go there. Hilton Corporate, are you listening?

The building was quiet and the staff were friendly. The room was dirty, and the restaurant opened late, so we got takeout somewhere else. Other than that, no complaints.

Gary & Cara at the front desk were outstanding. They handled a few room issues professionally, and the breakfast was great, kept tidy and well stocked. The pool, outdoor area, and breakfast room were all very nice, and it was great to find a Hampton Inn with a restaurant onsite. We had a really nice dinner, though it was a little expensive. The hotel is convenient to many places. Our room was clean but very dark and dated.
