Appian Way Tuscan Cottage

We really enjoyed the cottage's privacy, especially sitting on the porch watching the deer and birds feed. The back patio hot tub was great, and we made good use of the little barbecue pit too. Fredericksburg itself wasn't quite our thing since we're not into antiques, but the cottage made for a perfect romantic weekend. Definitely recommend it.

We loved the hot tub, watching the hummingbirds, and riding the provided bikes to the labyrinth. The cottage sits about four miles outside town, with a nice view and a back porch secluded enough that other cottage guests can't see you. It was my first visit to Fredericksburg, and I'll be back. Next time I'll bring enough wine and food to stay in the whole weekend. Bring your own coffee and creamer, though. The supply there is limited and not very good.

These cottages make for a quiet, private place to unwind, with deer and birds around. I like staying in a cottage more than in a crowded Bed and Breakfast, though both have their own appeal. This one had a full kitchen, gas fireplace, TV, walk-in shower, and outdoor hot tub. They also provide bikes, a grill, and a place to eat outside. Just right for a weekend away.

The grill works like a good grill should. There's an angry green bird guarding the cabin's hummingbird feeder, so it doesn't get many visitors, but it's fun to watch. Peaches leads the doe gang that comes by. She's the one with cropped ears and a taste for peaches. I also caught Bob the armadillo trying to plant an IED by the roadside. Great getaway.
