Baymont by Wyndham Freeport Texas

My first time at this hotel got off to a bad start. The Indian lady at check-in seemed grumpy, as though everything was too much trouble. We pay to stay here and shouldn't get that kind of attitude or disrespect at the desk. The room was clean apart from stains on the bed linen and sofa. The sofa stain was easier to overlook, but the bedding shouldn't have been stained. The remote worked only when it felt like it, and the back was missing. Breakfast was continental and okay, though the drinks machine wouldn't give me apple juice. Fine for one night, but the welcome and attitude need work. The room itself was clean aside from those stains.

I couldn't get the app to make a reservation, so I walked in instead. The girl at the counter was sullen and wouldn't match the app's offer, quoting me $80 before tax. For somewhere in the middle of nowhere, with nothing nearby to eat or see, that's an outrageous price. This is a brand-new hotel, but it should cost around $35 or $40.

For a cheap place to sleep, this was decent for the price. The room was clean when we arrived, spacious, and even had a kitchen. We were unsure about the neighborhood at first, but after a couple of days it seemed fine. The beach is a short drive away, and stores and restaurants are conveniently close. My main complaint is that we ran out of towels and toilet paper, and the room was sandy from the beach. I called the front desk and asked for it to be cleaned while we were out for the day, but when we got back at 7 p.m., it hadn't been done. The staff weren't especially friendly or welcoming.

We arrived late and got a room quickly. The woman who helped us was nice, and the room was perfect for the night. It had a stovetop, fridge and freezer, ironing board, microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer, conditioner, shampoo, body wash, and lotion. We had everything we needed and slept really well. Breakfast in the morning was great: cereal, bagels, toast, yogurt, waffles, orange and apple juice, and coffee. I'd stay again, 10/10!
