Hilton Garden Inn Freeport Downtown

We were here over Christmas to be near family, and everyone was welcoming. Anita and Jameel at the front desk especially went out of their way to help us change rooms. At the bar, Jen was fun and professional, and we watched her handle a difficult guest impressively. After a big snowstorm, the parking lots and sidewalks were cleared quickly, which we really appreciated. Lots of smiles over the holidays. We’ll be back.

The pool was the amenity we were most looking forward to during our three-day girls’ stay with my sister and niece, so this was really disappointing. The brunch was a bit pricey, but the pool was much worse. Its filtering didn’t seem to be working properly, and there was hair in the water. We noticed dirty brown buildup on the pool floor and walls, and around the same time hair floating there caught on my sister’s foot and my hand. We were disgusted, got out, and showered back in the room. Please clean the pool.

The walk to the whole L.L. Bean campus takes about five minutes, which is ideal for our annual November trip to the L.L. Bean empire. This was our third year in a row, and our best stay yet. The on-site restaurant does both breakfast and dinner, and we really enjoyed the food. Kristina was our waitress, gracious and upbeat, and brightened our day. Rizwan, the new general manager who recently came from Texas, was just as lovely. He greeted us at breakfast and dinner and was such a kind, engaging person to talk with. The gym is compact but has two treadmills, two ellipticals, two bikes, plenty of strength machines, and free weights. It all looked new and high quality. The indoor pool was clean and refreshing, a good way to pretend we’re still athletic. We’ll definitely return next year. Highly recommend!

The central spot worked well for shopping and dinner, and the property was in great shape, with the snow shoveled and salted. We had a lovely midweek stay last week. Heidi at the desk was friendly and helpful, Jen made us tasty nightcaps at the bar, and Krystina made sure breakfast was delicious. We’d definitely recommend staying here.
