Town House Motel

I woke up around 1 a.m. with bites and left right away, leaving my things behind. When I called to report it, the man said there was nothing there, even though I had the bites. He was rude, and refused my refund request. They should be inspecting and cleaning the rooms. The place felt unsafe and unsanitary, and the service was unbelievable.

I've been coming and going here for three years, and it's been a bad experience overall. Customer service is good, and management tries to make up for the staff, but there are serious problems with one maintenance guy. Residents bring up the tall white guy when I ask about the workers and who doesn't do their job. He says he isn't comfortable going into residents' rooms because he doesn't like people, which makes me wonder why he took work that involves going in and being careful with their belongings. He drinks while on the clock, by his own admission, and he damaged my wife's leather jacket, then tried to make it look like someone else had made small holes in it. That jacket came from her biological father. He also calls people a tool when he's in a mood, belittles his girlfriend when I see him, has a short temper, and doesn't do the job properly. Being inexperienced can explain poor work, but it doesn't excuse verbally attacking my wife when she politely asked him to pick up the trash in front of his room. She could have ignored it, but she cares about mother nature. I do want to recognize Jay, the other employee, for keeping the peace and going above and beyond for people. I hope his work as a freemason continues to bring him success. He deserves a raise, in my opinion.

The room was uncomfortable enough that we booked somewhere else for the next day, and were glad we did. Across town, we paid barely more for a much better stay. We only accepted this room because we had evening plans right after arriving in Freeport. We had reserved before leaving Missouri, after a friend recommended the hotel despite never having stayed there. We were warned they'd give our room away if we didn't arrive by 6 p.m.; we got there shortly after and called, and they let us keep it. The room had two beds even though we only needed one. The air wasn't working in the one-bed room, so he gave us $10 off for the two-bed room. Both bedspreads and sheets were dirty. There was nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom, and the shower was a tiny stall with no place for anything. Turning on the sink sprayed water all over me. It wasn't somewhere we'd want to stay for long, though it would be better than being homeless.

The manager was warm, and for the price, it's a good place to stay.
