Parkside Inn Fresno

The room had a heavy ceiling leak whenever the person above us showered, and there was water damage all over. The place is dated and about as clean as you'd expect, but for $50 after tax I expected at least decent service. The sign promises free continental breakfast, yet the man at the desk just repeated “no” when we asked. He didn't explain whether breakfast was unavailable that day or never served, and seemed annoyed, almost laughing at us. The night before, a woman had said there would be coffee, but in the morning the man again said no and offered no explanation. I'd look elsewhere at the same or lower price. The room could hardly be worse, and the customer service might be better.

The room was filthy, with dirty walls, tags on the door, walls, and mirrors, and black mold in the shower. It smelled awful, including the heating and air unit. The bedding and furniture were outdated, the dresser was missing drawers, there was no remote, and the TV was old. The lighting was horrible, maybe so you wouldn't notice how dirty everything was. Staff weren't friendly or accommodating at all. One of the dirtiest, most disgusting rooms I've stayed in. I don't know how they're still open.

The advertised continental breakfast wasn't there on either of the two mornings we stayed. I asked for more towels on the first morning and was told fresh ones would be left after cleaning, but when we came back that evening the room hadn't been cleaned and there were no towels. We arrived to find no towels, pillowcases, or ashtrays in the smoking room. Eventually they brought two towels for two adults, with no hand towels or washcloths. We ran out of toilet paper and there was no spare roll. The shower mat was just paper on slick tile. There were roaches everywhere. There was no smoke detector or sprinklers, wires hung out, bare bulbs had no shades, and the bathroom light flickered the whole time. The curtains were ripped and shredding. The TV needed a remote from the office, and its picture was so dark it was hard to watch, with no knobs to adjust it. Stay somewhere else.

We used to come here often with friends and never had a problem. On a recent visit, they made us leave over noise complaints even though we were hardly making any noise. We weren't given a warning. I think the complaints may have been about another room, and we got kicked out instead.
