San Joaquin Hotel

The pool was Green, which really sucked since I chose the suite expecting to have family and friends over to swim and visit. I booked on a weekday and got a good deal. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable, but lots of things were broken: the shower door could pop off, the hallway door handle was broken, and the refrigerator wouldn't get very cold. It was July in Fresno, so that was a real bummer. Most of the front desk staff seemed like they hated their life, though the nighttime guy was cool. Aside from the pool, it was a good experience.

The grounds could be very pretty, and probably were at one time. The rooms, though, were filthy, with carpets that looked untouched for years and old, outdated decor. I tried two different rooms and neither was acceptable. I was there less than an hour and was so very disappointed. I wouldn't let my dog on the sofa, it was that filthy. How can an owner be proud to have people stay here? Would their family stay here? I'm sorry, but this place should be closed down and redone. I like sharing both good and not so good reviews.

They promised me a refund, but the GM has ignored all my calls and emails. The stay was a mess. On the first night, the air conditioning went out and we had to change rooms at midnight. The new room had no hot water, so we couldn't shower for the next 2 days. Ants were all over the kitchen even though we hadn't cooked there. Pictures were missing from the walls, the bedroom had no doorknob, and there were only 2 pillows and no comforters. So sad, this place used to be awesome.

I'm definitely coming back for extended stays. The room was spacious, nice, and clean, with a firm bed and pillows, which I prefer to overly fluffy mattresses that swallow you up without back support. The remodeled bathroom had a taller vanity, full length mirror, and clean shower with toiletries. I also appreciated the fridge, microwave, and coffee & tea maker for my drinks and leftovers. Parking was easy, the grounds were well kept, and the location felt nice and safe, though the busy main street made it a bit noisy. Staff are there 24hrs a day, and there's express checkout. It's pet friendly too, with separate fees for bringing your fur baby.
