TownePlace Suites by Marriott Fresno

I love Marriott, but this particular location disappointed me in every way. We had a reservation through a third party, along with proof of payment and a confirmation number. At the hotel, the clerk said they’d been trying to call us all day, which seemed suspicious because neither my number nor my travel partner’s was attached to the reservation. She insisted the reservation hadn’t been paid for, then contacted her manager. The manager first said they’d been trying to reach the third party company without success, then repeated that we had to pay if we wanted to stay. When we tried to pay, they said we’d also owe a cancellation fee equal to one night for a room, on top of the new room charge. It looked obvious to me that the hotel was probably running a scam involving third-party payments. The third party company contacted the property, and suddenly they knew nothing about any of it.

We booked for a medical procedure, and the staff accommodated us well. The room had more than we needed, everything worked, and it was comfortable. We also enjoyed the snacks and ice cream for purchase. Thanks again.

At 3am on the second night of our two-day stay, the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate. The fire department came, but the issue with the ice machine was never fixed, and the very loud alarm kept going off again all morning from 6am-7am. We got no sleep, and it scared my 5 year old daughter. The hotel showed no remorse and should reimburse everyone who had to go through that.

The couch and ottoman were so filthy I couldn't get comfortable, with marks that looked like human waste. This was a company-paid stay, and I usually don't leave reviews, but people considering this place should know. At these prices, I expected better than what I'd associate with a run-down highway motel. I wouldn't recommend it or stay again.
