UPDATE: The manager got in touch, explained what happened, and apologized. I appreciate them owning the communication problems and taking the time to explain. We’ve decided to keep our original plan to stay, since the place looks beautiful and fun. ORIGINAL POST: I booked a room for six at $568. The reservation never asked who would be staying or how many adults, but the next morning I received a bill for $703. The front desk said the higher amount was because there would be six adults. I tried to explain that it would actually be three adults and three children, two of them babies, and that I would have given them those details if they’d asked. My daughter was going on a school day trip there, and I said I’d be with her as a chaperone, as the school requires. I repeated several times that the school would only be there for six hours. Still, the front desk said I couldn’t interact with my daughter during the trip because I’d be a hotel guest. Then they put Taylor on the phone, though I wasn’t sure if Taylor was a manager. When I explained again that it was a day trip, Taylor said the first person hadn’t told her that. The call kept being put down while I was trying to explain, which made the whole conversation harder. I asked for my money back and to cancel. They said I’d need to email proof that I was a chaperone in order to attend the field trip and stay with the school group. That felt invasive and odd, especially since I was required to be with my daughter. I also didn’t understand why I was being charged an extra $135 based on an assumption about who was staying, without getting clarification first. They may have a rule about hotel guests interacting with school groups, but it would just be me and my daughter, and I was trying to avoid a six-hour round trip drive in one day. After such a strange experience, I figured we’d book somewhere less complicated, with better listening and communication.

Updating my review: Wonder Valley explained that the lead teacher from Herrera elementary School, not Wonder Valley, was the one who made us leave. They said I was welcome to come with my child, but the decision was up to the ayer elementary principal and my daughter’s teacher. I appreciate Wonder Valley clearing things up so quickly when I wasn’t getting anywhere. Thanks for finding out what happened. Five stars, and I’d give them ten if I could.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving visit with Daytripper tours. Everyone on staff was friendly and accommodating wherever we went. SHANNON Esubedo especially stood out.

The rooms were nice, with huge, comfortable beds, and the food was good. Staff were friendly and accommodating too. We had a great family visit at this beautiful place, with lots included and plenty of fun activities you can add on. It’d be great for a short family vacation or a trip with friends. Special thanks to the lady who works with the houses, she made my nieces day!
