241C Mountain Side Condo

We booked through Vrbo, and getting to Copper Mountain was really convenient. After a day skiing, the hot tub and indoor heated pool were great to have.

The range of units is the main thing to be aware of. Some have been remodeled with modern appliances, furnishings, washers and dryers, and lots of room, while others still look untouched since the 70's. It pays to look around and choose carefully. Even in an older unit, you can still use the pool, hot tubs, and other amenities, and most visitors are out enjoying the outdoors much of the time. Mountainside is an older condo and town home development, but it’s very well maintained. It has plenty of open space, parking, and amenities, unlike many newer places squeezed into small town sites. It sits on the edge of town by national forest, and a stream full of fingerling trout runs through the grounds, which kids can watch for ages. The location is hard to beat. Mountainside and Bill's Ranch are within walking distance of main street, next to the bike path, and just minutes from hiking and mountain-biking trails into the Ten Mile Range and the Colorado Trail. Frisco is right in the middle of Colorado Ski Country, in Summit County. We love Mountainside and wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Summit County.

We’ve stayed in these condos twice and plan to return. The location works well for several ski resorts, and it’s close to town for what you need while traveling. The hot tubs are fantastic. Our last rental, though, was very dated. The outlets were loose and didn’t charge devices well, and the kitchen had few supplies and cheap pans and utensils. Housekeeping also seems to have missed a grease spill in the oven. The units clearly vary, so an outdated, lower-quality one should cost less.

We’ve spent winters at Mountainside for 13 years, and we’ve always loved the location and clubhouse. But the maintenance keeps slipping. They can’t seem to hold onto an onsite maintenance manager for more than a couple of years, and each change leaves someone who doesn’t seem to understand how the place works. This season only one outdoor hot tub is working. We’ve called Buffalo Mountain management Company several times about that and the lack of hot water in the showers, and got no response. I’m getting pretty tired of the place and the poor maintenance.
