The rooms and amenities felt neglected, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The pool room was barely above freezing when I visited in December. When I asked the front desk about turning on the heat, I was told management doesn’t allow it; it wasn’t broken, they simply choose not to heat the space. The hot tub was out of order, and the water’s color suggested little or no effort had gone into fixing or maintaining it for quite some time. There were signs of deterioration in the room as well: bathroom doors with years of shower water damage and worn-away wood and paint, broken tiles, poor lighting, lumpy mattresses, threadbare sheets, and dirty floors. Management seems to be letting both rooms and amenities decline while still charging full rates.

The room was way overpriced for its poor condition, and I’ll never stay here again. The bed was the only thing that seemed clean. The shower curtain rod was broken and wouldn’t stay up, the room mirror was broken, and the microwave was broken and nearly caught fire the first time I used it. Someone’s old food was still in the fridge.

At La Quinta in Fruita, we had a large top-floor suite for the evening, just as advertised and booked. It was modern, well laid out, and looked out over the surrounding fields. Staff were friendly, and the room was clean and good value. The desk had enough accessible power sockets and USB outlets. There was no in-room safe. Breakfast was a basic American-style buffet with cereal, hot food, waffles or muffins, yoghurt, fruit, and brewed coffee.

After more than ten years of choosing La Quinta while traveling with my dogs, I’m really sad and disappointed with tonight’s stay. It used to be free for the dogs, so what does the current $20 per night cover? This felt like a typical dumpy interstate hotel. Teenagers kept going in and out of their room nonstop at 9:30 at night, and the front desk attendant was horrible. I checked the heating and AC filters, which were disgusting, and brought them to the desk. The person there had no idea what to do. I know it’s cheap, but come on.

It was a plus that the place allows pets, and the beds were clean and comfortable. The toilet in our room was very dirty, though, and there was coffee spilled on the Kleenex holder.
