Super 8 Fruita

Paul @ super 8 gave us super 10 customer service. We felt welcome and safe, and would stay here again with our dogs. The lobby, rooms, and grounds were all well kept, and I was glad they had surveillance in the parking area and hallways.

The young man who checked us out was professional and nice, but the guy who checked us in was not a good fit for dealing with the public and made me feel really creeped out. The stay was OK otherwise. The cable went out, and the night guy didn’t report it to the owner for three hours.

Cam at the front desk gave me generous, prompt service during my bikepacking trip. I stopped by very early to check in, soaked, cold, dirty, and covered in snow along with my bike. He gave me an old towel to wipe the bike down and moved my check-in along. I was very grateful.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and breakfast was a little better than most continental spreads, with yogurt, fruit, toast, juice, and waffles. But the room made for an uncomfortable stay, and after seeing the other reviews I wonder if we got a dud. We probably won’t be back. There was a bad smell that wouldn’t clear even with the AC and bathroom fan running constantly. The floors were so dirty that we kept our shoes on, and the covers, though not the sheets, had stuff on them that made it seem they needed washing. The walls had junk all over them, as if someone had had a food fight or fist fight, or it had built up over many visits. The sink needs renovation: it was cracked, had mold growing under the fake crystal handle, and dark red rust gathering near the drain. The tub backed up, so we had to shower with our feet in pooled water. The toilet was running slowly when we arrived and eventually stopped flushing, so we had to ask staff to come try plunging it.
