Holiday Inn Express and Suites Ft Myers East The F

We stayed five days. Liz and Jose were great, and when I mentioned a few things that needed attention at check-in, they handled my requests right away. The maintenance person was also very nice and fixed the repairs.

The location was handy for food and nearby attractions, and I liked the pancake machine at breakfast. That was about the extent of the good, though. The smell on the hotel floor was awful, like mildew and mold, and the room didn't feel anywhere near IHG quality, more like Motel 6. My sheets had odd spots, the desk chair had stains that looked like semen, and there was rust and mold throughout the bathroom. The shower faucet leaked, and the bathroom door was stripping. After I was out all day, I came back to find no fresh towels and no housekeeping. I was told they were short staffed. At check-in I was told there'd be a $75 deposit for incidentals, but I was charged twice for $75 and nearly another $200. Such a hassle. I was there for a family event, and while I wasn't expecting much for the location, at $240 a night I still expected a decent room where I could sleep comfortably. I could've slept at a bus stop and enjoyed it more. NO BUENO!!

The room was nice and clean, and the young man at the desk when we arrived was friendly and willing to help. I would've given at least five stars until this morning. I came into the lobby looking for the breakfast I'd read was included, and the woman watching TV gave me a look like I was bothering her before asking what I wanted. When I asked about breakfast, she said it wouldn't be available until 7, and acted like I'd interrupted her show. Then I said I was ready to check out and needed a receipt, but was told just to leave the keys on the desk. Her service made this a much worse stay.

It's my first day, so I can't review the whole stay yet. The hotel looks nice, especially the lobby, and it's quiet, with lots of parking and close to Edison mall, flea market, and nature areas. Breakfast is very good, with different options depending on the day, including eggs, potatoes or bacon, fruit, coffee, toast, bagels, pancakes, juice, and milk. Ice machines are on floors 2, 4, and 6. The refrigerator works, though it isn't as cold as it should be. The air conditioner won't shut off and none of its buttons work. The pool is out of service, and when I stayed over Christmas there weren't any decorations or even a tree. One of the staff took a box of chocolates from my room. It was a present. Everything in my room was recorded. Thanks for ruining my Christmas. Thieves.
