Days Inn Turbeville

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the mattress was comfortable with no bed bugs. That's about all I can say in the motel's favor. I only ended up here because I was driving from NY to FL, everywhere in Dillion was full, and it was dark and raining. The Subway down the road suggested this place. The room was very dark and looked like it was from the 80s. The lamp switches were broken, so I had to plug or unplug the lamps to turn them on and off. The bathroom floor was moldy and sticky, and I wasn't sure the towels and washcloths had been washed. One washcloth had a dark brown stain. I tossed it, then pulled it back out because I didn't want them to charge my card for it. The hair dryer didn't work, the coffee maker had no pot, and the TV remote was broken, so I couldn't watch TV. Before eating dinner, I wiped down the desk with a Lysol wipe and it came away filthy black. The wipes were just as dirty on every other hard surface. The carpet was worn and stained. The ice maker was in the first-floor breezeway, but old mattresses and boards blocked access to it. The motel badly needs repairs.

We'd been in motels plenty of times, and this was by far the worst. We paid $78.35 on Feb 28th 2015 because the weather was getting bad and we needed somewhere to stop. After just half an hour, the door swung open until the security lock caught it, and my wife pushed it shut. There was nobody in sight when we looked out. I called the office on my cell since the room phone didn't work. The creepy little man at the desk said he'd opened our door by mistake. The toilet wouldn't flush, the shower didn't work, and there was hair on one bed when we pulled back the blankets. A drawer had trash and things left by earlier guests. I can't even describe the free breakfast, it was a joke, though the coffee was good. I'd seen reviews before and thought people were being too picky. I wish I could post pictures.

We had our two small grandchildren with us when the car broke down as we were trying to get back onto the highway. It was very late, so having somewhere to settle the kids and keep them calm was a huge relief. The staff were so friendly and helpful, including a really nice woman from housekeeping. When we needed to move the vehicle, she dug her heels in and helped us push it. I didn't find the room dirty or see the problems other people mentioned. I never felt unsafe, and the beds were comfortable.

After 26 hours on the road with kids and pets, I was desperate for somewhere safe and quiet to rest, with no fleas, bedbugs, or roaches. The reviews I'd found for other places were awful, so this place felt like a lifesaver. I asked to see the room before taking it, and the owner understood. As soon as I opened the door, it smelled clean, and the mattress was practically brand new, still wrapped in protective plastic. A new owner had recently taken over. The place still needs work, but you can tell a lot of time and money have gone into it. Best shampoo ever!!!!!
