Plaza Motel

You only get two towels at check-in, whether you stay one night or longer, and have to buy more if you use them. Service is very limited, and convenience could use attention too. The bathrooms are the only part that’s been updated.

This was a good, restful stay. The rooms were clean, with modern furnishings, and everything worked. They’re on the small side, but the motel is pet friendly. There’s only one way in and out, and most room doors face the courtyard. That setup made me feel a bit like I was in prison. I also felt like management was watching everything I did, which was kind of creepy.

I was disgusted by the room. My son has asthma, and they never told me it was a smoking room. When I walked in, it smelled like a hundred people had been smoking there at once. They then tried to charge me double the $20 and bill me for the room even though I didn’t stay. I disputed the payment, thank goodness, or I would’ve been ripped off. I guess they don’t let people from Joplin stay in hotels and motels so they can screw people from out of town. Crappy hotel and crappy management.

The room had a small fridge and microwave, plenty of towels and toiletries, and the bathroom had just been remodeled. Everything was really clean, and both the room and bed were comfortable. An excellent stay for a motel.
