Sleep Inn South Joplin

For a $90 hotel, I'd rate it around 3.3-3.5 stars, average to a bit above. rhollo checked us in and made our quick overnight stop welcoming, putting us in a quiet room. It was clean but showing its age. Coffee was available all the time, and breakfast was average. The parking lot was well lit, though I didn't feel it was separated enough from the fuel stations for comfort. The hotel is connected to a huge truck stop, but we couldn't hear the trucks. There are several food options next door, and the hotel offers discounts at each. We ate at the Iron Skillet, which is now closed and being remodeled into the Black Bear Diner, and the food was good. Handy for fueling up before getting back on the road, and the huge petro shopping center next door has pretty much anything a traveler could need. We were passing through on our way to Arizona.

The Internet was down, but they told us in advance, and our hot spot meant it wasn't a problem. We weren't bothered by the big trucks either. The room was very clean, the bed super comfy, and although a huge neon sign was outside, the heavy drape made the room plenty dark. We felt unsure pulling in because the hotel sits between two large truck stops, but the place turned out bright, clean, and fresh, with friendly staff and easy check-in. The pool looked clean, though we didn't use it. Breakfast was generous, with lots of fresh, tasty hot food, though I missed having fresh fruit. Great coffee, and plenty of it. A great spot to stay.

We loved the down-home American feel, and the place was super clean. Breakfast was amazing. There was only a shower in our room, no tub, but we didn't ask for a tub, so some rooms may have one. Our two-year-old grandson was with us, and I felt very comfortable having him there.

A really nice experience, with clean rooms, a good location, and efficient, friendly staff. There's a 20% discount at the Iron Skillet next door, and Tesla chargers in the parking lot.
