Hampton Inn Gainesville-Haymarket

A roach on the curtains ended my stay. I’d stepped out to pick up a couple of things, and when I got back I spotted something there. Looking closer, it was a roach. The front desk gentleman apologized a lot and offered to move me, but seeing one in a room made me worry the others might have them too. My company was able to move me to another hotel. We don’t have roaches where I live, and I’m sure not bringing any home with me. I told the desk employee this should be reported to management because it’s unacceptable to find one in a hotel room. I’d come to VA for work and couldn’t book the recommended hotel because it was sold out. This was the only available place in the suggested area for the nights I needed, so I booked despite being skeptical after reading the Google reviews. The location had lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance, the man who checked me in was friendly and professional, and at first the room looked clean and nice. That relief didn’t last.

We chose this place because it was close to where we were spending the holidays, and there were plenty of food and drink spots nearby. But housekeeping took a bag from our room that had Christmas things in it. It held sentimental items, cash, and treats my niece had picked out before we left for the day. When we came back, the whole bag was gone.

You can walk to just about everything from this very clean hotel, including restaurants, a barber, grocery store, coffee shop, and retail shops. There’s also a self-serve bar with beer and wine. Great place to stay.

We walked back from Jiffy Lube Live after taking an Uber to the show. It took about 30 minutes, with sidewalks most of the way, so the location worked really well. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and I personally didn’t notice any train issues like other people mentioned.
