Super 8 by Wyndham Gainesville I-75 Hospital University Area

We stayed all four days over the Christmas holiday because we didn't want to lose our money or wait for a refund. Check-in was easy and the manager was very nice, but the night shift guy and front desk were rude that night. The morning woman was polite, definitely not the woman with the braids. Jonathan was our housekeeper, but there was hair all over the bathroom and by the bed, and soap scum in the shower. We had three people, yet only got two washcloths, and we had to clean the room ourselves after they left a tip envelope on the nightstand. The water kept switching from hot to cold, as if the plumbing were bad. Breakfast was only toast, waffles, coffee, apple juice, and orange juice, with no fruit or meat, and the syrup tasted cheap and flavorless. On the second night, some junkies were in the hallway on a whole drug trip before one went out to the parking lot. This place isn't kid-friendly at all. My fiancée wanted to give it a 1, but I settled on a 2.

The room is basically only good for sleeping. If you plan to spend any time awake in it, you'll want to pay more to stay elsewhere. There's only one chair for two queen beds, and one bed had a corner noticeably caved in, as if a large man had been using it as a chair. There isn't a real desk either, just a ledge barely big enough for a laptop that takes the place of a nightstand. The TV inputs were locked, so I couldn't switch the source. The front desk guy said they locked the HDMI ports on all TVs because one guest had messed up the settings. That doesn't justify taking a standard convenience away from everyone. If one guest misuses a hairdryer or phone, are those going to be removed too? There's a shower but no tub. And the stench hits you as soon as you open the lobby door, then gets worse in the hallway while you carry your bags up to the second floor. There's no elevator.

The room was somewhat decent, but all night it sounded like furniture movers or a bowling team were practicing in the room above me. I called the front desk and got about 45 minutes of quiet. I won't stay here again.

Wonderful staff and a wonderful hotel. The breakfast was good, too. A big shout-out to Max, one of the best hotel managers I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
